Ebed-melech

A Cushite official in King Zedekiah's court who rescued the prophet Jeremiah from a muddy cistern.

Ebed-melech was a royal official who demonstrated great courage and faith by interceding for Jeremiah when the prophet was imprisoned in a cistern. His actions highlight the theme of God's protection for those who trust Him, even among foreigners. Because of his faithfulness, the Lord promised him safety during the fall of Jerusalem.
