Old Testament
Elasah
A name shared by a priest who repented of foreign marriage and a messenger sent to Babylon.
The name Elasah appears in two distinct historical contexts. In Ezra 10:22, an Elasah is listed among the priests who pledged to put away their foreign wives following the reforms of Ezra. In Jeremiah 29:3, an Elasah son of Shaphan served as an envoy sent by King Zedekiah to Babylon, where he delivered Jeremiah's letter to the Jewish exiles.
