Old Testament

Ish-bosheth

The son of Saul who was installed as king over Israel by Abner to oppose David's reign.

Ish-bosheth, also known as Eshbaal, was the son of King Saul and served as a rival monarch to David for two years. His reign highlights the political division of Israel following Saul's death and the eventual consolidation of the kingdom under David. He was ultimately assassinated by his own military commanders, an act that David condemned.
