Old Testament
Jabal
A descendant of Cain who is identified as the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.
Jabal was the son of Lamech and Adah, noted in Genesis 4:20 as the progenitor of nomadic pastoralism. His significance lies in the early development of human civilization and the diversification of labor among the descendants of Cain. He represents the biblical record of the origins of tent-dwelling and animal husbandry.
