Old Testament
Maacathites
The Maacathites were a group of people from the small Aramean kingdom of Maacah near Mount Hermon.
The Maacathites originated from the region of Maacah, located east of the Jordan River near the territory of Bashan. They are mentioned in the Old Testament as allies of the Ammonites during their conflict with King David. Their presence highlights the geopolitical landscape of the Transjordan region during the early Israelite monarchy.
