Old Testament
Potiphar
An Egyptian officer and captain of the guard who purchased Joseph as a slave.
Potiphar was an official of Pharaoh who served as captain of the guard. He recognized Joseph's competence and placed him in charge of his household, but later imprisoned him following false accusations from his wife. His role highlights the providence of God in Joseph's life, as even in captivity, Joseph remained under divine favor.
