Sisera
The Canaanite military commander who oppressed Israel for twenty years before his defeat by Deborah and Barak.
Sisera served as the commander of King Jabin's army, wielding nine hundred iron chariots to dominate the Israelites. His defeat and subsequent death at the hands of Jael fulfilled Deborah's prophecy, marking a pivotal victory for Israel. The name also appears in the post-exilic lists of temple servants in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, referring to a different individual or family line.
