Old Testament
Arioch
A name shared by a king of Ellasar in Genesis and the captain of the Babylonian royal guard in Daniel.
The name Arioch appears in two distinct historical contexts. In Genesis 14, he is identified as the king of Ellasar who joined a coalition of four kings against the cities of the plain. In the book of Daniel, he serves as the captain of Nebuchadnezzar's guard, tasked with executing the wise men of Babylon before Daniel intervened to interpret the king's dream.
