Old Testament
Bildad
One of Job's three friends who argues that Job's suffering is a direct consequence of his hidden sins.
Bildad the Shuhite is a primary interlocutor in the Book of Job who defends the traditional view of divine retribution. He insists that God is strictly just and that Job must have committed unconfessed sin to warrant such calamity. Ultimately, God rebukes Bildad for failing to speak what is right, requiring Job to intercede for him.
