Eliashib
The High Priest who oversaw the rebuilding of the Jerusalem wall and later compromised temple purity.
Eliashib served as High Priest during the post-exilic restoration of Jerusalem. While he initially led the priests in consecrating the Sheep Gate, he later compromised his office by providing temple space to Tobiah the Ammonite. His actions prompted Nehemiah to confront the corruption of the priesthood and the violation of temple holiness.
