Esarhaddon
An Assyrian king who succeeded his father Sennacherib and later resettled people in Samaria.
Esarhaddon was the son of Sennacherib who ascended the Assyrian throne after his father's assassination. He is mentioned in Scripture as the successor to the Assyrian king who besieged Jerusalem and as a ruler who continued the policy of relocating foreign populations into the territory of Israel. His reign highlights the ongoing geopolitical pressures faced by the kingdoms of Israel and Judah during the Assyrian expansion.
