Gamaliel

A Pharisee and respected teacher of the law who advocated for caution regarding the early apostles.

The name Gamaliel refers to two distinct biblical figures. In the Old Testament, he was the son of Pedahzur and a leader of the tribe of Manasseh during the census in the wilderness. In the New Testament, he was a prominent Pharisee and teacher of the law who advised the Sanhedrin to exercise restraint when dealing with the apostles, noting that if their movement was of human origin, it would fail on its own.
