Melzar
The Babylonian official appointed to oversee the diet of Daniel and his three companions in Babylon.
Melzar was the steward tasked by the chief official of Nebuchadnezzar's court to supervise the training of the captive Hebrew youths. He plays a pivotal role in the narrative by agreeing to test Daniel's request for a diet of vegetables and water. His cooperation allowed the youths to remain faithful to their dietary convictions while demonstrating God's favor through their superior health and wisdom.
