Pilate
The Roman governor of Judea who presided over the trial of Jesus and authorized His crucifixion.
Pontius Pilate served as the fifth prefect of the Roman province of Judea from AD 26 to 36. He is historically and biblically significant for presiding over the trial of Jesus Christ, where he acknowledged Jesus' innocence yet ultimately yielded to the pressure of the crowd to order His execution. His actions fulfill the prophetic necessity of Christ's suffering under Roman authority.
