Shimshai

A Persian scribe who opposed the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem.

Shimshai was a scribe serving under the Persian governor Rehum in Samaria. He co-authored a letter to King Artaxerxes that successfully halted the reconstruction of Jerusalem's walls. His actions illustrate the political opposition faced by the Jewish remnant during the post-exilic period.
