Old Testament
Shiphrah
One of the two Hebrew midwives who defied Pharaoh's order to kill newborn Israelite boys.
Shiphrah was a Hebrew midwife who feared God more than the Egyptian king. By refusing to commit infanticide, she played a pivotal role in preserving the life of the Israelites and the future deliverer, Moses. Her actions demonstrate the priority of divine obedience over human authority.
