Amos
A shepherd from Tekoa called by God to prophesy against the social injustice and idolatry of Israel.
Amos was a Judean shepherd and sycamore-fig farmer whom God sent to the Northern Kingdom of Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II. His ministry focused on denouncing the nation's oppression of the poor and their empty religious rituals, calling them to return to true justice and righteousness. While the prophet Amos is the primary figure, the name also appears in the genealogy of Jesus in the Gospel of Luke, referring to a different individual.
