Shem
The eldest son of Noah who received his father's blessing and became the ancestor of the Semitic peoples.
Shem was the son of Noah who survived the Flood in the ark alongside his family. He is significant for receiving the blessing of God through his father, establishing the lineage from which the patriarchs and eventually the Messiah would descend. His life marks a pivotal transition in the Genesis narrative as the progenitor of the nations that would interact most closely with the covenant people of Israel.
