Old Testament
Anathoth
A Levitical city in the territory of Benjamin assigned to the descendants of Aaron.
Anathoth was a city of refuge and priestly residence located in the tribe of Benjamin. It is most significant as the ancestral home of the prophet Jeremiah and the site where he purchased a field as a sign of Israel's future restoration. The city also served as a place of exile for Abiathar the priest during the reign of Solomon.
