New Testament
Elizabeth
A righteous woman of the priestly line of Aaron and the mother of John the Baptist.
Elizabeth was a descendant of Aaron and the wife of the priest Zechariah. She is noted for her righteousness and her miraculous pregnancy in old age, which fulfilled the prophecy regarding the forerunner of the Messiah. Her encounter with Mary and her recognition of the unborn Jesus highlight her role in the early narrative of the New Testament.
