Hezir
A priest during the reign of King David who was selected by lot to serve in the seventeenth priestly division.
Hezir is identified in 1 Chronicles 24:15 as the head of the seventeenth course of priests established by King David for temple service. His inclusion in this list highlights the organized structure of the Levitical priesthood during the monarchy. The name also appears in Nehemiah 10:20 as a signatory to the covenant made by the people to follow the Law of God after the exile.
