Old Testament
Jael
The wife of Heber the Kenite who killed the Canaanite commander Sisera to deliver Israel from oppression.
Jael was a Kenite woman who provided refuge to Sisera, the fleeing commander of Jabin's army, before killing him with a tent peg. Her decisive action fulfilled Deborah's prophecy that the Lord would sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. She is celebrated in the Song of Deborah as a hero who brought peace to the land.
