Old Testament
Merab
The eldest daughter of King Saul who was promised to David as a wife but given to Adriel the Meholathite.
Merab was the eldest daughter of King Saul, mentioned primarily in the context of Saul's shifting political alliances and broken promises regarding David. Although Saul initially promised her to David as a reward for defeating Goliath, he later gave her in marriage to Adriel the Meholathite. Her five sons were later handed over by David to the Gibeonites to be executed, marking a tragic end to her branch of Saul's lineage.
