Old Testament
Oreb
A Midianite prince captured and executed by the Ephraimites during Gideon's victory over Midian.
Oreb was a Midianite leader defeated alongside Zeeb when the Israelites under Gideon secured the Jordan fords. His death became a proverbial reference for divine judgment against Israel's enemies, later cited by the prophet Isaiah. The name, meaning raven, serves as a historical marker of God's deliverance of His people from Midianite oppression.
