Old Testament
Pethahiah
A Levite priest and official who served during the post-exilic restoration of Jerusalem.
Pethahiah is identified in 1 Chronicles 24:16 as a priest serving in the nineteenth division of the temple service. Later, in the books of Ezra and Nehemiah, a Pethahiah is noted as a Levite who helped lead the people in confession and as a royal representative for the king of Persia in matters concerning the people of Judah. These references likely refer to the same individual or family line active during the return from Babylonian exile.
