Shabbethai
A Levite who assisted Ezra in the investigation of intermarriage and later served in Jerusalem.
Shabbethai was a Levite who played a role in the post-exilic restoration of Israel. He is recorded as one of the men who opposed Ezra's plan to address the issue of foreign marriages, and he later served as a leader in Jerusalem overseeing the external business of the house of God. His involvement highlights the administrative and religious duties performed by the Levites during the rebuilding of the community.
