Old Testament
Tema
A son of Ishmael and the eponymous ancestor of an Arabian tribe located in the northern desert.
Tema is listed in the genealogy of Ishmael as the ninth son of the patriarch. The name refers both to the individual descendant and the nomadic tribe or region that settled in the northern Arabian Peninsula. Biblical references associate the people of Tema with trade, desert caravans, and the judgment of God upon the nations.
