Uzza
An Israelite who died after touching the Ark of the Covenant during its transport to Jerusalem.
Uzza was a son of Abinadab who assisted in transporting the Ark of the Covenant on a new cart. When the oxen stumbled, he reached out to steady the Ark and was struck dead by God for violating the divine command regarding the handling of holy objects. His death serves as a solemn reminder of the necessity of following God's specific instructions for worship and service. Note that the name Uzza also appears in post-exilic genealogical records, likely referring to different individuals.
