New Testament
Anna
A prophetess of the tribe of Asher who recognized the infant Jesus as the promised Redeemer in the temple.
Anna was an elderly widow who dedicated her life to fasting and prayer within the temple courts. Upon seeing the infant Jesus, she gave thanks to God and spoke of Him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. Her witness serves as a confirmation of Christ's identity alongside Simeon during the presentation at the temple.
