Old Testament
Hodiah
A name shared by a woman in the tribe of Judah and several Levites who served during the post-exilic restoration.
The name Hodiah appears in two distinct contexts within the Old Testament. In 1 Chronicles 4:19, Hodiah is identified as the wife of Ezra and mother of Jered, Heber, and Jekuthiel. In the book of Nehemiah, the name refers to one or more Levites who assisted in the public reading of the Law and the sealing of the covenant following the return from Babylonian exile.
