Old Testament
Hophra
Pharaoh of Egypt who failed to deliver Jerusalem from the Babylonian siege.
Hophra, also known as Apries, was the Pharaoh of Egypt during the reign of Zedekiah. He is significant in Scripture for his failed attempt to break the Babylonian siege of Jerusalem, illustrating the futility of relying on human alliances rather than God. His downfall and the subsequent judgment upon Egypt are prophesied by Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
