Old Testament
Joktan
A son of Eber and descendant of Shem, Joktan was the patriarch of thirteen tribes in the Arabian Peninsula.
Joktan is identified in the Table of Nations as the son of Eber and brother of Peleg. His descendants settled in the region extending from Mesha toward Sephar in the hill country of the east. His significance lies in his role as a progenitor of various Arabian tribes, illustrating the expansion of the post-flood population.
