Old Testament
Mareshah
A town in the Judean Shephelah, noted for its strategic importance and role in the history of Judah.
Mareshah was a city in the lowland of Judah, originally allotted to the tribe of Judah in the book of Joshua. It was fortified by King Rehoboam and later served as the site of a major battle between King Asa and Zerah the Cushite. The prophet Micah mentions the city in a lament regarding the coming judgment upon the nation.
