Omri
A military commander who became the sixth king of Israel and established the city of Samaria as his capital.
Omri was a prominent military leader who seized the throne of Israel after a civil war. He is historically significant for moving the capital to Samaria and establishing a dynasty that exerted regional influence. Despite his political success, the biblical record condemns him for acting more wickedly than all his predecessors by promoting idolatry.
