Old Testament
Naphish
The eleventh son of Ishmael and ancestor of a nomadic tribe in the Transjordan region.
Naphish is listed in the genealogy of Ishmael as one of his twelve sons, who became princes of their respective tribes. The descendants of Naphish are later mentioned in 1 Chronicles as a nomadic people defeated by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh. This account highlights the territorial expansion of Israel and the fulfillment of the promise regarding Ishmael's numerous offspring.
