Old Testament
Othniel
The first judge of Israel who delivered the people from the oppression of Cushan-Rishathaim.
Othniel, son of Kenaz and Caleb's younger brother, was a valiant warrior who captured Kiriath-Sepher. As the first judge of Israel, he was empowered by the Spirit of the Lord to defeat the king of Aram-Naharaim, securing forty years of peace for the land. His life illustrates God's faithfulness in raising up deliverers for Israel during the period of the judges.
