New Testament · Major figure

Peter

A fisherman called by Jesus to be a foundational apostle and leader in the early church.

Peter, originally named Simon, was a prominent disciple of Jesus who frequently acted as a spokesperson for the Twelve. He is noted for his confession of Jesus as the Christ, his denial of the Lord, and his subsequent restoration and bold preaching in Acts. His two epistles emphasize the hope of the gospel and the necessity of holiness in the face of suffering.
