Old Testament
Rapha
The progenitor of a line of giants, or Rephaim, who opposed Israel during the reign of King David.
Rapha is identified in the Hebrew text as the ancestor of the Rephaim, a group of giants encountered by David and his mighty men. His descendants, including Ishbi-benob and Goliath, represent the formidable enemies Israel faced in the land. The accounts in 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles highlight the defeat of these giants as a demonstration of God's victory over Israel's foes.
