Shemer
The original owner of the hill of Samaria, which King Omri purchased to establish his capital city.
Shemer was the owner of the hill that King Omri of Israel bought for two talents of silver to build the city of Samaria. By naming the city after Shemer, Omri established a new political center for the Northern Kingdom. This brief mention identifies the historical origin of the site that became the capital of Israel.
