Balaam
A Mesopotamian seer hired by Balak to curse Israel, who was compelled by God to speak blessings instead.
Balaam was a diviner from Pethor whom Balak, king of Moab, summoned to curse the Israelites. Despite his desire for reward, God forced him to pronounce blessings upon Israel, though he later enticed them into idolatry and immorality. His life serves as a sobering biblical warning against greed and the corruption of spiritual gifts for personal gain.
