Balak
King of Moab who hired Balaam the prophet to curse the Israelites as they traveled toward Canaan.
Balak was the son of Zippor and king of Moab who feared the growing presence of the Israelites. He attempted to use the prophet Balaam to secure a divine curse against Israel, but God forced Balaam to pronounce blessings instead. His actions are later cited in Scripture as a warning against leading God's people into idolatry and immorality.
