Both Testaments
Jetur
Jetur was a son of Ishmael and the ancestor of an Ishmaelite tribe located east of the Jordan.
Jetur is listed in the genealogy of Ishmael in Genesis 25:15 and 1 Chronicles 1:31. He represents the progenitor of a nomadic tribe that inhabited the region of Ituraea, which is mentioned in the New Testament during the ministry of John the Baptist. The name signifies both the individual son of Ishmael and the subsequent people group associated with his lineage.
