Rechab
A name shared by a Benjamite assassin and the ancestor of the faithful Rechabite clan.
The name Rechab refers to two distinct figures in Scripture. One was a Benjamite captain who, along with Baanah, assassinated Ish-bosheth, the son of Saul. The other was the father of Jonadab, whose descendants, the Rechabites, were commended by God in Jeremiah 35 for their unwavering obedience to their ancestor's command to abstain from wine and settled life.
