Old Testament
Shammua
A Reubenite leader sent by Moses to scout the land of Canaan during the wilderness journey.
Shammua was the son of Zaccur and the representative of the tribe of Reuben among the twelve spies sent to explore Canaan. While the name appears in later genealogical lists in 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, and Nehemiah, these references likely refer to different individuals serving in various administrative or priestly roles. His primary biblical significance remains his participation in the reconnaissance mission that preceded Israel's initial failure to enter the Promised Land.
