Old Testament
Tohu
An Ephraimite ancestor of the prophet Samuel, identified as the son of Zuph in the genealogy of Elkanah.
Tohu is mentioned in the genealogical record of 1 Samuel 1:1 as the son of Zuph and the great-grandfather of the prophet Samuel. He serves as a link in the ancestral line of the Levite family from the hill country of Ephraim. His inclusion establishes the historical and familial lineage of Elkanah, the father of Samuel.
