Old Testament
Zuph
An Ephraimite ancestor of the prophet Samuel, mentioned in the genealogy of Elkanah.
Zuph is identified in 1 Samuel 1:1 as an ancestor of Elkanah, the father of the prophet Samuel. The name also appears in the context of the land of Zuph, a region Saul traversed while searching for his father's lost donkeys. He serves primarily as a genealogical link establishing the lineage of the house of Samuel within the tribe of Ephraim.
