Elam
An ancient nation and its eponymous ancestor, representing a significant regional power east of Mesopotamia.
Elam is identified in Genesis 10:22 as a son of Shem, becoming the progenitor of the Elamite people. Historically, Elam was a prominent kingdom centered in modern-day Iran that frequently interacted with Israel and its neighbors. The name also appears in the Bible as a designation for individuals in the post-exilic community and as a region represented by witnesses at Pentecost.
