Old Testament
Nahash
An Ammonite king who besieged Jabesh-gilead and later maintained a diplomatic relationship with King David.
Nahash was a king of the Ammonites who threatened the people of Jabesh-gilead, prompting Saul's first military victory as king. Later, he maintained a peaceful relationship with David, though his son Hanun eventually provoked a war with Israel. Some scholars suggest there may have been two distinct Ammonite kings named Nahash due to the long duration of the recorded interactions.
