Old Testament
Nebushazban
A high-ranking Babylonian official present during the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC.
Nebushazban was a Rab-saris, or chief officer, in the army of King Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon. He is mentioned only in Jeremiah 39:13 as one of the officials who oversaw the release of the prophet Jeremiah from the court of the guard following the capture of Jerusalem. His presence highlights the administrative role of Babylonian leadership in the aftermath of the city's destruction.
