Old Testament
Menahem
Menahem was a king of Israel who seized the throne by force and reigned for ten years in Samaria.
Menahem son of Gadi usurped the throne of Israel after assassinating Shallum in Samaria. His reign was marked by heavy taxation to pay tribute to the Assyrian king Pul, ensuring his own political stability. The biblical record notes that he did not depart from the sins of Jeroboam, continuing the pattern of idolatry established by the first king of the northern kingdom.
